Services
Who
We Are
The
Arc of Somerset County is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated
to serving people with disabilities and to assisting
them in becoming selfsufficient, independent members
of the community in which they live. The Arc of Somerset
County's Occupational Training Center is accredited
by the Commission for Accreditation Facilities (CARF)
and meets or exceeds all state and federal standards
for such facilities. The Arc of Somerset County has
operated employment training facilities throughout Somerset
County for over 30 years. The facilities are designed
to train people with developmental disabilities in work
skills required in both the public and private sectors.
The Arc of Somerset County provides advocacy activities,
early intervention programs, recreational services,
employment programs and transition services.
TRANSITION
SERVICES
The
Arc of Somerset provides a wide range of Services for
transition aged students. Our Senior Employment Consultant
is available to attend IEPs to assist The Child Study
Team in developing and implementing a Transition Plan.
Vocational
Exploration
A
time-limited opportunity for students to visit community
work sites and shadow employees in various work situations.
Individuals gain valuable knowledge of job requirement
and job duties to assist in their career planning.
Community-Based
Vocational Assessment
A time-limited opportunity for the student to participate
in a non-paid community work experience. Students perform
the actual job functions and gain knowledge of their
specific employment interest.
Functional
Assessment
An
opportunity for the student to spend time at Branchburg
Occupational Training Center or one of our other centers.
The goal is to offer the student exposure to a variety
of opportunities available to individuals with disabilities.
Job
Development
Students
work with an Employment Specialist to develop a resume,
practice interviewing skills. Then the student's skills
and interests are matched to an appropriate job in the
community.

Coaching
The
student works with an Employment Specialist to learn
the job duties and work traits that enable him/her to
succeed in a particular em
