The Arc of Somerset County, located at 141 South Main St., Manville, NJ 08835, is hosting an employment walk-in day on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. No appointment necessary.

On Wednesday, February 1, 2012, the U.S. House of Representatives is expected vote on H.R. 1173, a bill to repeal the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Program. The CLASS program was created to help pay for services and supports to help working adults maintain independence in the community.

The United Way of Northern New Jersey is sponsoring a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The program provides FREE tax preparation assistance for people who earn low to moderate income. To make an appointment, dial 2-1-1 to be connected to a location near you.

Siblings of children with special needs gathered this Sunday, January 22, at the YMCA in Hillsborugh to connect with other siblings of children with disabilities and to have fun. This quarterly event included swimming, games, crafts and refreshments.

Thanks to the generosity of the Somerset County Community Elijah can participate in family outings, Theresa can appropriately interact with her environment, Joel can cruise around his house independently and Frieda will have a vacation at the Jersey Shore. As we begin our 40th year of service, we thank you for being part of our mission.

As we enter our 40th year of service in Somerset County, we reflect on our past achievements while looking forward to the next chapter of our story.

Our many services and programs touched the lives of more than 1,000 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

Our volunteer base remained strong, with more than 700 individuals giving of their time and talent to support The Arc's mission.

Our logo and tagline were updated, bringing a renewed sense of commitment to our mission and the work that we do.

Our partnerships within the community were strengthened, thus expanding the depth and breadth of our services for persons served.

Our programs and services were expanded, thus addressing the ever-changing needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Arc of Somerset County acknowledges our many supporters, donors, family members, employees, advocates, community partners, and volunteers that support our mission and the work that we do.
