The Achievement Center at RVCC

Social Skills Awareness Program for ages 16 to 21 starting Friday, September 14, 2018!

This bi-monthly Social Skills Awareness program on the campus of Raritan Valley Community College is designed through practice to develop and enhance social skills; discuss better ways to communicate our ideas and thoughts; and recognize the importance of both verbal/non-verbal communication in our relationships.

No matter what age, making friends, creating plans, and navigating social spaces can be a challenge and at times, a daunting task.  Through discussion and role plays, we offer participants an opportunity to create a social skills toolbox which will allow them to express themselves and their interests in a safe environment.

This Social Club group will be held on the second and fourth Friday of the month from 6pm to 8pm at The Achievement Center (Arts Building – Room A-25) on the campus of Raritan Valley Community College.  The cost is $350 and the start date is Friday, September 14th. Transportation will not be provided.

The goal of the three year program is to provide students with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to participate in a college experience on the RVCC campus while receiving additional support to maximize success. The admission process is comprised of a formal application and an interview. The Achievement Center program is not limited to residents of Somerset County and Hunterdon County.
